	NO WORRIES JUST SHAPES is a 3D and Motion Design Studio run by Vienna-based artist &#38;amp; designer duo Lina Schubert and Florentin Berger.

Our artistic focus lies in the exploration of Digital Nature and the creation of hypernatural materialities that bridge the realms of the analog and digital.

Curious by nature, we draw on our backgrounds in set and graphic design, music composing, anthropology, theatre, and advertising – and team up with cultural institutions, creative agencies, and forward-thinking brands to create both visually rich and conceptually grounded works.

We also highly value community and regularly host meetups and events for motion designers, 2D/3D artists, and other creatives in Vienna – and have been invited as speakers at events like Pixel Vienna, FMX Stuttgart and Forward Festival.

JUST SHAPES: ORNAMENTS is a side project from our JUST SHAPES 001–999 series, where we explore ornamental forms and transbiological lifeforms through taxonomic plates, in which the framing acts as an essential part of the work itself.


Growing up in Vienna, the visual legacy of Ver Sacrum and early 1900s art and design has always influenced our work. The idea that ornament can function as both structure and poetry inspired this new series.

JUST SHAPES 001–999 is an evolving anthology of objects crafted during our artistic playtime, dedicated to one of our favorite subjects: Digital Nature. Every piece is modeled in VR and then procedurally shaded within Cinema 4D and Redshift. 
Beyond the fun of this process, it serves as a form of artistic practice, enabling us to delve deeper into the aspects of natural forms, growth patterns, and surface textures – as well as to further develop our own creative methodology.

The VIENNA DESIGN WEEK has long been aware that the table of Vienna’s crafts sector is overflowing. Richly laid with stories, materials, finished products, and forms full of vibrant tradition. The only thing that is missing is the ideal invitation to the feast: WIEN PRODUCTS, the umbrella brand for around sixty Viennese craft businesses, joined up with the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK to commission the motion design studio NO WORRIES JUST SHAPES to work on a solution. Naturally, the result is not a conventional written invitation but, rather, a sensual artistic insight into the things that make Viennese handcraft so special. Inspired by baroque still lifes and enveloped in sounds from Johannes Wernicke, NO WORRIES JUST SHAPES serves up some constantly changing visual delicacies that one can hardly see enough of.

Client:&#38;nbsp;PIXELvienna
Collaboration with: Maresch &#38;amp; Sturm﻿

This project brings together two Vienna-based studios: one known for crafting organic 3D forms and textures, the other for bringing characters to life with expressive design and animation. By merging illustrated expressions with 3D shapes, we’ve created unique creatures that capture the magic of both our worlds. Our combined work took center stage at PIXELvienna, Austria’s conference for computer graphics and animation, as the key visual for the 2024 edition of the festival.

PLANET X, Y, Z

"One cannot foresee the future, but one can lay the foundation for something future 

–

 because the future can be built." – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

In The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's protagonist visits a variety of planets, each reflecting different aspects of human life. Inspired by this idea, we collaborated with pupils from the multi-grade class 1M 

(age 6-10) from the Otto-Glöckel primary school St. Pölten

 to envision and create a colorful, diverse solar system 
–

 one that explores how we might shape our future coexistence on Earth.

Over four workshop sessions in spring 2024, we guided the pupils through key questions:
 
What does your perfect planet look like? What would you bring from Earth, and what would you reinvent? How do you want to be perceived on this planet? 
Using a mix of sustainable and recyclable crafting materials, small teams of three or four kids conceptualized, built, and painted their own planets, spaceships and even a spacesuit.

Additionally, we introduced them to the world of 3D animation, demonstrating the process from initial sketches to modeling and final rendering.

In the last two workshop sessions we expanded the discussion: 
How can we create connections between these individual planets and their inhabitants? What might these bridges look like? 
Unlike The Little Prince, where each planet remains isolated, our project aimed to establish visual and conceptual links between them. Through collective sketches and artistic discussions, we designed a cohesive solar system. Students also developed narratives for their planets, further strengthening the interconnections, which were later compiled into a poster.

Following the workshops, we digitally translated the physical models into 3D and animated them into a unified solar system. The final works were exhibited at the Climate Conference of Solektiv &#38;amp; Tangente St. Pölten 2024, where the kids presented their creations alongside the completed animation.

The well-known environmental slogan "There is no Planet B" served as an underlying theme for Planet X, Y, Z. This project provided pupils with a platform to critically and creatively engage with both the ecological and social impacts of climate change, imagining hopeful and harmonious ways of living together in the future.

WINNING PROJECT OF THE RADO x VIENNA DESIGN WEEK MOVING MATERIALS PRIZE 2023
In collaboration with the Swiss watch manufacturer RADO, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK invited six motion design studios as part of the “Rado Moving Materials” competition to show new works on the video wall of the Rado Boutique in Vienna.
 "QUANTI TEMPI" – How many times? We explored this question concerning the layering of time and space in the transrealistic animation of the same name. In 8 briefly touched upon worlds, the loop shows a moving sculpture in which several of these layers are confronted with the dictates of time. The amorphously moving pieces and their surfaces are inspired by Rado's world of color and material; the clash a form of simultaneity – or timelessness.
During the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2023 from 22 September to 1 October, all 6 animations were shown again – and QUANTI TEMPI was announced as the winning project of the Rado Moving Materials prize.
